Richard Kern

Richard Carl “Sonny” Kern ’74, 65, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, at home.  He is the father of Monica and Erica.

He was a son of the late Ralph S. and Marlene M. (Eberwein) Kern. He was a member of Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Slatington, and Diamond Fire Co., Walnutport, and a life member of Star Hose Co., No. 1, Emerald. Richard was the first Eagle Scout at Milton Hershey School where he graduated.

He was employed for several years by Kovatch Mobile Equipment Corp., Nesquehoning.

He is survived by his daughters, Monica and Erica; brother, Randy D., and his wife Carol Kern, and James G. Kern; sister, Debbie Arndt; and a grandchild.

Service: Family and friends are welcome to a celebration of life service, Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, from noon – 4 p.m. at the American Legion Post 16, 510 Main St., Slatington.
