Major Job Boards

Indeed pulls job information from employer job boards as well as allows for paid job postings to Indeed.com. Indeed owns many other career websites including SimplyHired.com.

 
Google is an online search engine that can assist with job searches.
 
Flex Jobs is an online platform that assists job seekers in findinf professional remote and flexible jobs. 
 

CareerBuilder is a popular website for job searches. Employers post a wide variety of positions on CareerBuilder for job seekers to directly apply. Job seekers can upload their current resume which will be accessible to recruiters and companies that source candidates via resume databases.

 

GlassDoor is a social media-based website where employees can provide reviews about the company and culture, information about the work culture, and salary.

 
 

Monster hosts a variety of job postings. Many positions featured on the website are entry level positions or jobs that do not require a formal college education. Similar to other large job boards, Monster features positions for job seekers to directly apply via Monster or they will redirect the job seeker to apply on the employer’s home website.

 

ZipRecruiter is designed for companies to post jobs and quickly locate potential candidates. Staffing agencies are very active in the ZipRecruiter resume database and use it to source candidates and contact them about open positions that the candidate has not applied to but may be interested in considering.

Government Job Opportunities and Veteran Resources

Civil Service and non-Civil Service jobs are posted here for job seekers who would like to explore opportunities working for Pennsylvania government offices.

 

Pennsylvania employers can post their jobs to the CareerLink job board for job seekers, job coaches, and unemployment offices to share with the job seeking clients they work with.

 

USA Jobs is a job board for career opportunities within the Federal government.

 

Hiring Our Heros is a U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation job initiative helps veterans find employment after their military service.

 

The Department of Veterans Affairs offers careers information for veterans seeking employment with the VA (VAForVets), VA Medical (VACareers), or Federal Government (FedsHireVets).

Explore Career and Locate Training

This job information website is hosted by the U.S. Department of Labor. It includes a comprehensive list of training and educational resources, career exploration articles, and job seeker websites.

Build Your Resume and Cover Letter

Update your resume and cover letter frequently, especially as your roles and responsibilities change. Be sure to add new experiences and skills you have acquired. Tailor each cover letter to the specific job you are applying for to ensure a strong first impression.

Prepare for an Interview

An interviewer will review a list of questions that may arise during an interview or during a scheduled phone meeting. The interviewer will practice the questions to you. Afterwards, you will be presented with feedback on ways to improve your interview skills. You can expect to spend 30 minutes practicing for your interview.
