Jackie D. Kradel
Jackie D. Kradel ’68, 73, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at his home. He was the husband of Nancy Jean Kradel.
Jackie Dewitt Kradel, 73, of Butler, passed away Sunday Feb. 4, 2024, at his home.
He was born on Nov. 16, 1950, a son of the late Doris (Renick) Kradel and Loyal Adam Kradel.
He graduated from former Milton Hershey High School, Class of 1968. He was a four-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served as a helicopter mechanic aboard the USS Biddle in the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he worked at the Armco Steel plant (AK Steel) for 35 years in the cold mill riggers and transportation until he retired in 2008.
After retirement, he worked as a janitor for Aramark at Slippery Rock Area and Mars Area school districts. He then began driving a school bus for STA for the Slippery Rock Area School District for 12 years.
He loved meeting new people, groundhog hunting and helping on the farms of his sons-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Joan (Rodgers) Kradel, whom he would have been married to for 50 years on April 19, 2024; two daughters, Michele (Monte) Bostic of Virginia and Amy (Kip) Boggs of Greensburg; four grandchildren, Aiden Jones and Noah, Molly and Levi Boggs; three brothers, Robert (Tammy) Kradel of West Sunbury, Ronald (Yvonne) Kradel of Florida and Donald (Jane) Kradel of Portersville; and one sister, Cheryl (Cliff) Anderson. He also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as in-laws from the Rodgers family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Gary.
