Jerry A. Stevenson II ’88, 53, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023.
Jerry Alonzo Stevenson II, a devoted father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on April 23, 2023, at the age of 53, following a valiant battle with cancer. Jerry’s passing has left an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire and touch the hearts of many.
Jerry was born on November 25, 1969, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to his parents Eula and Jerry Stevenson. Growing up, he was surrounded by a loving family, and his childhood was filled with a passion for sports. He attended bible and karate schools and excelled in baseball, football, and rugby. His accomplishments were proudly displayed in his childhood home with trophies and photos of his many activities.
Jerry’s love of sports continued throughout his school years when he attended Milton Hershey boarding school in Hershey, Pennsylvania. There he made many friends and cherished memories. His education at Hershey set him on the path to success and instilled in him a lifelong love of learning.
After graduating from Hershey, Jerry attended Purdue University, where he majored in finance and accounting. Following in his father’s footsteps, he joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served with honor and distinction. Upon graduating from Purdue, he went on to obtain his Juris Doctorate degree from George Washington University and entered active duty in the Judge Advocate branch. He remained on active service until retiring as a major. Although he retired on paper, he never stopped being a Marine in his heart.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Eula and Jerry Stevenson, but he is survived by his three loving daughters: Helena Solberg-Stevenson of Irvine, California; Liv-Annika Solberg-Stevenson of Trondheim, Norway; and Maia Solberg-Stevenson of San Diego, California. He is also survived by his siblings: Jessica Wagner (Philipp) of Lufingen, Switzerland, and Ronald Eaton (Sandra) of Dallas, Texas. He will also be remembered by a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
Jerry will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his kind heart, and his unwavering dedication to his country and his beliefs. Jerry’s final moments were spent surrounded by those he loved, which speaks to the depth of his connections with those he held dear. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on through his family and friends.
